PHRO and Verka residents demands shifting of inquiry

AMRITSAR: Punjab Human Rights Organization (PHRO) and residents of Verka have demanded CBI probe into the kidnapping and killing of a 9-year- old boy Gurkeerat Singh.

Principal Investigator of PHRO, Sarabjit Singh Verka informed on Thursday that they had submitted a application with Amritsar police commissioner Ram Singh demanding that the investigation of the case should be transferred to CBI. The application is signed by as many as 500 residents of Verka. Notably Gurkeerat Singh had gone missing on November 7, 2012 but on November 16 his body was found from near his house.

Verka alleged that police had not been able to arrest the culprits as yet which have caused unrest among the residents of Verka and have put a question mark on the functioning of police.
